How many 12×12 pavers do I need for a 12×12 patio?

That is the main reason 12-inch pavers are popular for DIY patios: no conversion, easy layout, and the 10% cut-and-breakage allowance still comes to just 15 extra pavers. Bigger 16×16 or 24×24 slabs need fewer pieces (81 and 36) but are heavier to handle and harder to fit around curves. At roughly 24 lb apiece, those 159 pavers add up to close to two tons, so check how much a 12×12 paver weighs before you plan pickup trips or pallet delivery.
Don’t forget the base materials
The pavers are only the visible third of the shopping list.
